Life Is Better With Yoga

Yoga Was Heather’s Guiding Light

Born in Brisbane, Heather's journey led her to Southeast Asia in her early 20s, driven by a love for travel and adventure. She spent several years in India and Nepal, immersing herself in the study of Buddhism and Hinduism, learning about its deities, myths, and mantras from her Kathmandu family.

While she maintained an on-and-off yoga practice, a pivotal life event in her mid-40s prompted deep self-reflection about her identity and priorities. This marked a profound shift, transforming yoga from a casual pursuit into a gateway for profound study and new beginnings. It was a homecoming, a full-circle return to her core beliefs – that the lessons learned on the mat are indeed lessons for life.

A New Studio Is Born

Dharma teaches that each individual is born with a unique set of temperaments, abilities, and capacities, and therefore has a distinct duty to perform for both personal betterment and the good of society. A properly functioning society requires a diverse array of unique individuals. For example, if everyone were an artist, who would build houses? If everyone focused on business and material wealth, who would tend to those experiencing spiritual crises?

Svadharma is your individual duty or path in life, unique to your inherent traits and capacities. It allows you to fulfill your true self and contribute to the universal whole.

Derived from the Sanskrit words "sva" (own) and "dharma" (law, duty), svadharma emphasizes that everyone has a specific role and set of responsibilities. By living in accordance with this personal duty, one can find strength, clarity, and a sense of purpose.

After a beloved studio closed, Heather stepped into her svadharma . She gathered a team of amazing yoga teachers and opened The Yoga Co-operative, a light-filled and energetic space.

Our Vision

Our studio celebrates authenticity, not perfection. We embrace our human imperfections and the unique qualities that make each of us special. We welcome all who are tired of the pressure to be perfect and seek a more genuine and accepting community.
